A week in the life of the World Record Safeguarder is like an over of cricket :)
First I bowl a gentle loosener and it'll get hit for four.
Just like Mondays where I'll say something totally dark or random to get the conversation going and it'll be instantly dismissed without question.
Second ball I'll bowl a wide ball that's swinging away to minimise the chance of conceding runs and to judge the attacking mindset of the batter. If they have a go at that they'll have a go at anything - so id' revert to bowling straight at the wicket next ball for a 'you miss I hit scenario'.
Whilst on Tuesdays I'll start a potentially more interactive conversation that will make them think, though not necessarily reply. So their reaction will determine either an open and honest conversation where you could inform or be informed; whilst those keeping quiet will need to be questioned gentler and investigated further.
Wednesday's third ball would be a good length, a foot outside off stump and swinging away to test out our strengths between a tempting ball and a good batsman.
Just like I'd take the conversation with someone informative, as you don't want to get too deep or investigative too soon. That could cause people to put up a rearguard reaction or deliberately play and miss with their bat behind their pads like friends protecting their friends so they can't possibly be outed!
The fourth ball on Thursday will be aimed at the off stump, swinging away so forcing the batsman to play.
Whereas in investigative conversation if there's something that needs to be said you've got to throw it straight at them to get a reply or at least show you mean business.
Friday the fifth's ball will again be aimed at the off stump but this time it will be swinging in. The batsmen will think it's the same ball, but miss it as he's gone the wrong way with the bat so his middle stump gets smashed and he's on his way back to the changing room.
Likewise if you have a plan and get as much information as possible you can outfox your opponent or share knowledge with a friend or colleague to send people inside where they belong.
On saturday for the 6th ball you get carried away and try to bowl it too fast and you over step the mark for a no ball, so giving a free hit to your opponent, and so you go from hero to villain.
Just like in safeguarding where the push for revenge, justice and prevention of it happening again to anyone can soon turn you from hero to villain if you overstep the mark by using hilariously informative methods to reveal all about someone to all 😉
By the time of the last ball of the over on Sunday you send in a bouncer at your opponent, you never know it might just get him caught on the boundary.
Just like in safeguarding where if you listen, ask questions and inform people you'll get people caught out one way or another 😇
